Yesterday, our Merchant Navy Training Board Director Kathryn Neilson attended the All-Party Parliamentary Maritime and Ports Group session on Maritime Skills, Training And People in #Westminster. The #shippingindustry is facing a global shortage of #seafarers, so Kathryn highlighted the need to raise our industry profile and work more closely with the 4,190 secondary schools in the UK to make their career advisors and parents aware of the numerous exciting careers available from a career at sea. She was there to ask the Government and, in particular, the Department for Education for their support.
Well done Kathryn on the relaunch of Sea Ambassadors program
Well done Kathryn 🫱🏻🫲🏻⚓
Fantastic - Let's get the word out!
Do shipping companies really want UK seafarers? If they did = there would be no issue.
Well done Kathryn
Brilliant, Kathryn! Thanks for your tireless efforts to keep the pressure on all parties for this fundamental building block for our economies. #marinerskills #mntb #virtualmarine #beready
Excellent news - and may the government listen and act accordingly.
Kathryn Neilson thank you for the maritime representation. A continued effort to protect our future economy and maritime security to boot.👏

5moConstantly through our training there was the message we were short of sea farers, however there was still an issue for many to get their first stamp. If we increase the numbers being trained we have to support them in getting that initial experience qualified industry expects.
