17 May 23 Chamber speaks to MPs on Refreshed Clean Maritime Plan On Tuesday the Chamber attended Maritime UK’s MP drop in session focusing on the Refreshed Clean Maritime Plan (CMP). The Refreshed Clean Maritime Plan is due to be published later this year and is designed to set out a road map for the sector to net zero. The event, sponsored by Plymouth MP Luke Pollard, was a chance to highlight to MPs from across Parliament the importance of the CMP. Key messages included: having the ambition of net zero by 2050 being backed up by adequate funding to help unlock private investmentnot stifling innovation of emerging fuels and technologies by favouring one approach over another in the plan. Speaking after the event the Chamber's Director of Communications Tom Bartošák-Harlow said:"Alongside MEPC 80 at the IMO, the Refreshed Clean Maritime plan is the most important element of decarbonising shipping in the UK. "This event was a chance to speak with MPs about what we want to see the Refreshed Clean Maritime Plan deliver and the opportunities for the UK to be a blueprint for how to decarbonise shipping if we get it right." The Chamber will continue its engagement with Parliamentarians at its Westminster reception in July. Share:
